OUR ORIGINS

For almost two centuries La Española has been a benchmark for quality and innovation in olive oil production.
The journey our olives take from the tree to the table is one steeped in craft and tradition. La Española takes pride in providing consumers with the authentic flavor of olive oil in all its varieties, just as it has been enjoyed by generations throughout history.

Our history began in 1840, starting the first chapter in our business history and beginning the group’s olive oil adventure. Since then, at La Española we have become accomplices of your kitchen and spokespersons for the culinary richness of Spain. And with more than a century and a half of tradition and a wide range of products, our history has become intertwined with the daily life of those who invite us to their table. 1840

THE ORIGIN OF THE TRADITION

La Española is born, now the oldest brand of olive oil in Spain, with the emblematic figure of our lady on the label.

1869

AN INNOVATIVE TURN

The Court perfume factory passes into the hands of the Luca de Tena family and moves to Torreblanca, Seville, where they begin their olive oil adventure.

1900

EXPANSION WITH A SEVILIAN HEART

The Luca de Tena family located the olive oil bottling plant in Prado de San Sebastián, an symbolic place in Seville that, at that time, was on the outskirts of the city.

1977

CROSSING BORDERS

We begin our export adventure, and our international sales team begins to forge ties, taking the flavor of Spain beyond our borders.

1990

COMMITMENT TO THE PLANET

We are pioneers in the market with the use of recyclable PET formats, taking care of our planet while being innovative.

1999

SURPRISING AROMAS

We revolutionize kitchens with our flavored olive oils, a novelty that takes the seal of La Española to every corner of the world with flavors of truffle, chilli, basil, rosemary and garlic.

2000

CITIZEN OF THE WORLD

We built a bottling plant and refinery in Aleppo, Syria, and celebrated our presence in 100 countries, consolidating our global influence.

2004

HELTHY DROPS

We launched Soy Plus Omega 3 oil, an innovation with a healthy approach.

2009

REWARDED QUALITY

We introduced La Española Gourmet to the market, recognized by more than ten international awards for its superior quality.

2012

SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION

We opened our commercial office in New York and became the first brand to measure the carbon footprint of our flagship product in PET format.

2015

BROADENING HORIZONS

We established a commercial office in the United Kingdom, strengthening our presence in Europe.

2016

CONQUERING THE UK

A new bottle design helps us adapt to the preferences of the British market.

2018

EXPANDING THE HEALTHY RANGE

Our Soy Plus range is growing with the inclusion of avocado oil and coconut oil varieties, consolidating our healthy oil profile.

2021

STRENGTHENING OUR ROOTS IN BRASIL

We opened our own offices in Brazil, with facilities in Sao Paulo and Itajaí, to consolidate the growth of Acesur do Brasil.

2022

RECOGNITION IN SOUTH AMERICA

We stood out at the APAS Show, the largest food sector fair in South America, and received the award for the best International Stand design.

2023

EXPANSION IN THE US

We renewed our visual identity and reinforced our communication in South Florida, where La Española shines as the leading Spanish brand.

2024

INNOVATION IN ASIA

We expanded our spray oil range in the Spanish market and launched this format in emerging markets such as China and Korea.

LA Española Lady, a symbol

La Española lady has always been the emblem of La Española.
Here you can see the La Espanola family album: our collection of posters reflecting the passage of time through the eyes of our brand and the evolution of its most representative figure, “the lady.”  Our señora, with a marked Andalusian character, as shown by her outfits such as the “peineta,” the earrings or the “manton de manila,” has witnessed how we have gone from black and white to colour, how families have evolved and the historical events that have marked our country during the 20th century.  Each poster is a memory hanging on the wall of our history.  We invite you to take a walk through this gallery and see how we have matured while always preserving our essence…one that never goes out of fashion.
