Braided Pesto Bread

Easy Vegan Bread Recipe with Pesto Filling

Here's a bread recipe that will delight both vegans and non-vegans in equal measure.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz olive oil
  • 1 lb of strong flour
  • 1/2 tsp dry baker’s yeast
  • 12 oz warm water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • La Española Extra Virgin Olive Oil Spray for Greasing

  • 1.

    Mix the flour, salt and sifted yeast in a bowl.

  • 2.

    Add the olive oil and the warm water.

  • 3.

    Knead with your hands for about 15 minutes until it does not stick to your hands. Roll the dough.

  • 4.

    In a bowl greased with oil spray add the dough, cover with a cloth and let it rise until it has doubled its volume. 4. Approximately 60 minutes. The time will depend on the temperature and humidity of the area.

  • 5.

    Stretch the dough and fill with green pesto. Roll to form a cylinder, make a longitudinal cut without reaching the end of the end.

  • 6.

    Form the braid by alternating both strips of dough.

  • 7.

    Grease a rectangular mold and place the bread braid. 8. Cover with a cloth and let rise until it doubles in volume.

  • 8.

    Bake at 350 F for 35-40 minutes.

  • 9.

    Leave to cool and enjoy!
