We’ve attended some fantastic foodie events recently, including the brilliant BBC Good Food Show and our own exclusive tasting at Hispania restaurant in London. As well as an excuse to feast on some fabulous food, this also gave us the chance to speak to some of you!
We discovered two things from our chats together. Firstly, you’re all wonderful people with great taste in food! Secondly, we found that many of you were eager to learn new ways to use our olive oil!
So, this post is a shout out to all those who would like a little inspiration…
“What can I make with olive oil?”
Olive oil has a whole range of applications – fantastic facial and healthy hair masks merely scratch the surface of how you could put our oil to good use. But today we’re going to focus on the tastiest answers to this surprisingly common question. How else can I use olive oil when cooking?
To answer this properly we have to point out that, even within the kitchen, olive oil is incredibly varied and versatile. This is one of the reasons La Española offer a comprehensive catalogue of olive oil products!
Let’s take a look at the range of olive oil available alongside some mouth-watering recipes in which to try them!
La Española Extra Virgin Olive Oil
La Española Extra Virgin Olive Oil is our flagship product and a definite fan favourite. As part of our excellence guarantee, we promise a high quality from tree to table (you can even track your olive oil’s journey from Spanish grove using our Oliography tool!).
Because it is a natural fruit juice, the oil stays fresh throughout the production process and delivers a fruity, punchy flavour – ideal for salads, dressings and dips. This is why we recommend serving alongside as part of our gorgeous Garlic Toast with Roasted Peppers and Anchovies.
You can follow this recipe for details on preparation. Then, once you’ve put the bread on a platter and topped with your tasty tomato and pepper mixture, drizzle with our delectable extra virgin olive oil. Serve immediately, with extra black pepper and garnished with oregano leaves. Make your mealtime deliciously divine!
La Española Pure Olive Oil
La Española Pure Olive Oil is characterised by a mild flavour and beautifully-subtle aroma. It is perfect for cooking due to its higher smoking point. This makes it our go-to oil for grilling meats and roasting veg.
Looking for inspiration? A perfect place for the Pure Olive Oil would be in a lovely Lentil, Chorizo and Vegetable Stew! We suggest warming the olive oil in a large pan over a medium heat. Add the chorizo and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally until the chorizo releases its own oil.
To complete the meal, you can even return to our Extra Virgin Olive Oil, serving with a hearty chunk of freshly baked bread!
La Española Light in Colour Olive Oil
La Española Light in Colour Olive Oil has a deliciously delicate flavour and can be heated to even higher temperatures. As the flavour of olive oil does not overpower when cooking, this oil is exceptional for baking, stir frying and wok cooking.
Also, La Española Light in Colour olive oil is perfect for baking. It gives cakes and cookies a light but rich texture! As a bonus, it is the healthiest substitute of butter or other oils! If that sounds good to you, give our recipe for olive oil, almond and orange cake a try!
